Voluminous Hair Tutorial
I created this look to help anyone who is looking to learn how to add more volume to their hair. This is my favorite way to curl my hair, I have received so may questions on how to create this hair style so I figured what better way than to create a tutorial!
I've put together a video tutorial but there are a few things to consider when recreating.
- First thing to consider: What kind of hair do you have? Is your hair fine? thick? naturally straight? naturally curly? naturally wavy? is it healthy or damaged? These are all things to consider when selecting products, tools or even the temperature of the iron. (I have thick hair, naturally wavy and have damaged hair- meaning that my hair can handle heat, it will hold a curl and I use multiple products and heat protectants to keep my hair as healthy as possible.) If you have fine hair, definitely be sure you are not using a heat setting that is too high.
- Second, curl always holds better on hair that's slightly dirty. Try to curl on day 2- it will not only hold better but your curls are bound to last longer as well. I mention in the video that my hair was being curled on day 3. I generally curl my hair on day 2 or 3, and I honestly only wash my hair every 4 to 5 days. The reason I do this is because I'm trying to save my hair from heat damage. I found myself washing and blow drying my hair either everyday or every other day and my hair was SUFFERING! So I decided to train my hair to not get greasy as quickly and save my hair from frying under the blow drier.
- The products I use in this video are absolutely wonderful! These products may not work for everyone, it depends on the type of hair you have. However, these products are extremely affordable and I would highly recommend to anyone on the hunt for new products to liven up their hair and leave it feeling incredible!
- If you're looking for sleek curls always curl away from the face. Put the barrel behind the piece of hair and wrap. If you're looking for more volume in the curls alternate curling the hair towards and away from your face.
I hope you enjoy this tutorial and leave me a comment if you have any questions or if I should make a separate video on my hair care (shampoo, conditioner, serums, etc.)
