Girl's Trip: Let's Go to Palm Springs
If you are a Southern Californian, than you know - there's actually one to two places to actually escape and take a relaxing break from everyday-life relatively quickly. I live in Los Angeles, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my LA life - it's the best - but sometimes I just need a little break to clear my head and unplug. My first thought: the desert.
I just got back from a fabulous two week vacation in Spain and my mom, who lives in San Diego was itching for a weekend getaway to hang out, be girly and of course hear all about my trip with my fiancé.
Dress - Urban Outfitters similar
The trip was low-key but felt so necessary, we tanned in 100 degree dry desert heat, shopped and went out to dinner. Like I said, a v low-key getaway.
We stayed at the JW Marriott (Palm Desert), though we had initially booked the Avalon Hotel (Palm Springs) which they oversold and we were SOL or were to pay many extra $$$. It's okay, we still stopped by Chi Chi restaurant at the Avalon Hotel for an Acai Bowl breakfast - fabulous BTW. So the Marriott it was - let's just say the crowd was vast and v interesting. But we were thrilled to just be away. Oh and there is a Starbucks in the lobby, win.
What to pack for a Palm Springs trip in August:
Dresses - light weight, cotton dresses. Thats pretty much it. That or cotton tops + shorts.
Sandals - nice for dinner/drinks and more flip flip type for the pool - because you cannot touch the ground with bare feet. It will not be fun, even from chair to pool, no matter how close you think you are.
Lip balm - Something HYDRATING. I love the entire Kopari line for this exact purpose. The desert can seriously dry out your lips, so come prepared.
Body Lotion - Nothing feels better than a day in the sun, showered a fully lotioned. Nothing.
Magazines or a good book - Like Allure, Lucky, Vogue and Vanity Fair
